L'Age d'Or
A digicam photograph was taken in a late winter afternoon of this tombstone in the nearby churchyard of St. Peter's in Little Budworth, Cheshire. The lighting conditions were not ideal and the photogaph was very lack-lustre. So it received some heavy treatment with a variety of filters in Paint Shop Pro to create this colourful image, where the original grey stone has been transformed almost into a gilded statue set against an unnatural sky. As a fortuitous accidental by-product of the processing, the cross seems stained with blood, which also appears to run down the steps at the base of the cross, I think adding to the power of the image.
