Afghanistan
At the time this landscape was created, the TV news was full of images of the escalating troubles in Afghanistan. One image in particular of the distant mountains through a storm of red dust caught my attention and prompted this interpretation of the scene. Rather than attempting to create the impression of dust swirls, which I think would have obscured too much detail, I opted for the reddish haze and the unnatural colour of the heavily dust-laden sky to convey the impression.
