Estuarine Mud-Flats
An attempt to portray coastal mud-flats at low tide. I think they always look best in early morning with a heavy sea mist partly obscuring the land. To give further emphasis to the thick, grey mud and the dank, melancholy feel of the misty scene, I reduced the colour content almost to monochrome. The only real colour is in the alga-coated rocks in the foreground at the right, but the surface map was carefully adjusted so that just the faintest hint of green also showed through in the brighter lit parts of the further shore.
