Banana Boat

An image created in response to a TrollZBane challenge to depict something of what the world might be like if technology was grown rather than manufactured.  The banana boat HMS Fyffe bearing her precious cargo of nuts on her maiden voyage, at full steam ahead in a valiant attempt to reach the supermarket shelves before Christmas.  Name plate, the cargo, organic ship's rails and the distant birds all added in post using Paint Shop Pro.  Everything else, including the smoke, is Vue d'Esprit.  (Sorry the name plate is a bit illegible - it's fine on the original but reducing the image size and compressing it for display here have made the text a little obscure.)  And for anyone who thinks the funnel is off-centre - it is, by design.  You have to be careful when building boats of this class to ensure that the placement of the superstructure is precisely calculated to counterbalance the natural curvature of the hull and thus ensure it floats with an even peel... sorry, keel.  Righting a capsized banana in heavy seas is not a feat for the faint of heart and we don't want to risk creating a nut-oil slick.
