Perilous Crossing

This is again composited from two renders using different versions of the material for the water.  The first was a relatively simple material and took less than half an hour to render.  The second was by far the most complex material I have ever created (combining 3 procedural and one photographic material along with environmental factors, bump functions and filters in abundance) - with no other changes this boosted the render time to over 6 hours!  The bridge and figure are both from models downloaded from the web.  The water is constructed from a terrain that was first generated in Vue, exported to Paint Shop Pro for further editing, then reimported into Vue.  I decided that although the hugely complex material I had created for the water was quite effective, I wanted a hint of the original material in there too.  So post work included merging the two renders in Paint Shop Pro using three copies of the more complex version with different layer blendings and transparencies to produce the final version of the water.  A little softening of the water/rock interface and a touch of spray was also added in PSP, and repeated here and there in ZBrush using the spray stroke.  ZBrush's fibre brush was also used to add textured grass to the rock surfaces, the original Vue version being very flat and unconvincing.
