Spring Thaw
My vision of a foundered vessel trapped and crushed by Arctic pack ice. The doomed mariners have taken down the sails to protect them from the winter storms, but to no avail. None will bear witness as the spring thaw begins to open up the sea once more and slowly loosens the ice's grip on the hull - the once proud shell that has now become their communal coffin and is soon to carry them on its final voyage to the bottom of a cold, uncaring ocean.
Modelled in Vue d'Esprit, using the excellent Goelette model by the very talented Alain Gracia, here retextured and slightly modified. (Sorry to have wrecked her first time I took her for a sail, Alain!) The falling snow effects were added in post using Paint Shop Pro. This has been by far my best received work in Vue to date on the public forums.
